One Hour, One Intersection, One Non-fat Latte

After language class today I relaxed high above the famed intersection in Shibuya, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0335266/, to sip a latte and snap Tokyo style photos as promised. The slide show in the upper right hand corner of this blog displays a vast array of Tokyo style caught from one spot in one hour. You can also click the link below if you prefer to scroll through the photos on your own, http://picasaweb.google.com/CannaKendall/ShibuyaFashion73.

Style notes:

knee socks- the new black

hats- hippie hats, top hats, fedoras, bonnets, baseball, they all work

sailor uniforms
- does not a sailor make, try school girl uniforms (yes, really)

no natural
- fake tans, dyed hair, eyeliner, plenty of makeup (sometimes classy, sometimes wishfully)

lady hair styles-
two-to-ten shades lighter, cute short messy, long big curls

"manly" hair
- more high maintenance than any female styles I've seen; feathered, spiky, meant-to-be-mullets (as in 45-minutes to style into mullet creation), tussled ponytails, hipster

heels
- everywhere. No commuter shoes here; stacked, wedges, stilettos (on foot, on bike, the all purpose shoe... alas, I have found my place). Huzzah!

pointy toed shoes
- for guys (not elves)

Harajuku girl
- real people or animation? No clue.

Salaryman- black suit (seriously 99.5% of the time plain & black)
